Creative Technology

For decades, INA has stood for creative application solutions, a high level of engineering and manufacturing expertise as well as exceptional customer proximity. Established by brothers Dr. Wilhelm Schaeffler and Dr. Ing. E.h. Georg Schaeffler in Herzogenaurach in 1946, the company has developed into a global player as rolling bearing manufacturer and supplier to the automotive industry.

The company's success story began in 1949 with the development of the needle roller and cage assembly by Dr. Georg Schaeffler, an ingenious invention that helped the needle roller bearing achieve an industrial breakthrough by increasing its reliability and performance. In 1952, an INA needle roller bearing replaced the previously used plain bearings in the VW Beetle transmission and thus contributed to the car's outstanding success in the market. This marked the beginning of INA's success story in the automotive industry.

Almost every modern passenger car today contains INA engine and transmission components. Variable cam timers and hydraulic bucket tappets ensure improved performance, reduced fuel consumption, lower emissions and increased driving comfort in modern car engines. The high quality and reliability of INA rolling bearings, engine components and linear technology have made the brand a recognized and reliable partner to renowned customers all over the world.

Innovation in Motion

FAG is a pioneering innovator with a broad product portfolio not only for automotive vehicles of all types as well as aircraft and launch vehicles but also for applications in almost every industry sector, from machine tools to wind power.

Since 2001, FAG has been part of the Schaeffler Group and is represented in both divisions – Automotive and Industrial.

The FAG success story began with a ground-breaking idea: In 1883, Friedrich Fischer invented the ball grinding machine. For the first time, this made it possible to grind large volumes of steel balls to absolute roundness. It thus laid the foundation for the entire rolling bearing industry.

Whether it is high-precision bearings for the Space Shuttle or the Airbus A 380, sensor wheel bearings for passenger cars or large bearings with outside diameters up to 4.40 meters for wind turbines, FAG is the number one choice for all large customers in the aviation, aerospace, industrial and automotive sectors. FAG's range of products and services complements INA's in an ideal way.

Gearing up for Tomorrow

For more than 40 years, LuK has been synonymous with strength of innovation, customer focus and quality for numerous products in the automotive drivetrain.

Dr. Georg Schaeffler and Dr. Wilhelm Schaeffler founded LuK in 1965 with the initial aim of supplying diaphragm spring clutches for the successor to the VW Beetle. Today, every third new car rolls out from the production line with a LuK clutch.

As a technology leader in many areas, LuK has developed ground-breaking products: In 1965, LuK was the first company in Europe to bring a diaphragm spring clutch onto the market and in 1985 launched the first dual mass flywheel. This was followed by CVT components for higher torques at more than 300 Nm and "easytronic", the first electromechanical automated manual transmission worldwide. Current development efforts are particularly focused on components for forward-looking dual-clutch transmission systems or alternative drive concepts such as efficient subassemblies for economical hybrid drives.

The LuK Group also comprises the automotive aftermarket business, which offers replacement parts and services for distributors and repair shops worldwide.
