The Millennium Wheel – also called The London Eye –, the tallest and heaviest Ferris wheel in the world, is put into operation. It is 135 meters high, has a circumference of 424 meters and a total weight of 2,100 metric tonnes. Two large FAG spherical roller bearings weighing several tonnes ensure smooth rotation of the wheel.
